Start with the local appointment team
Choose your county in the Florida directory and call its WIC appointment number. Say whether you are applying for the first time, adding a baby, returning for certification or changing an existing visit. The team will tell you which clinic and appointment type to use.
The statewide WIC information number is 800-342-3556. This guide cannot reserve appointments and does not show live availability.
Four details to confirm before hanging up
- The clinic street address and suite, or whether the visit will be by phone.
- The date and time, including the time zone if you are in the Panhandle.
- Who must attend and which documents or health measurements are needed.
- How to send documents and which number will call you for a remote visit.
First appointment: certification
The official program reviews household income and the medical or nutrition information for each applicant. Booking a visit does not itself approve benefits. Have identification, current Florida address evidence and household income information ready; use the document checklist to prepare.
Phone appointments are arranged locally
Orange County agents arrange either an in-person or virtual appointment. For an Orange County virtual appointment, its published outgoing number is 407-858-1400 and its stated call window is 8:15 a.m.–4:15 p.m. This applies to an appointment already arranged with that county, not to every Florida clinic. Miami-Dade uses TeleWIC at 786-336-1300 for scheduling.
If you cannot make the appointment
Call the same county WIC team to reschedule. Explain whether your benefits are nearing their end date or you missed a certification visit. Ask what must be completed next and when; do not assume benefits automatically renew or that a clinic accepts walk-ins.
Choose the reason for your call
Tell the scheduler whether this is your first application, a new baby being added to a participating family, a transfer from another clinic, or a visit after a missed appointment. Ask which family members the appointment covers. A parent’s existing appointment does not tell you whether a newborn has been scheduled.
Use this opening: “I live in this county and need a WIC appointment for [myself / my child]. This is [a first visit / a new baby / a transfer / a missed visit]. What should I prepare, who needs to attend, and is the appointment in person or by phone?” Share actual identifying information only with the official team.
Leave the call with a usable plan
- Repeat the date, time or call window and the name of the clinic.
- For an in-person visit, confirm the street, suite, entrance and who must come. For a mobile unit, confirm the date and meeting point rather than relying on the host building’s opening hours.
- For a phone visit, confirm the callback number WIC will use and how to recognize the call.
- Ask which documents must arrive beforehand, where to send them and what to do if an upload fails.
- Ask how to reschedule and mention any benefits ending before the appointment.
You can print the checklist below and write your confirmed details on paper. There is no appointment form on this website.
Cost of applying and participating
WIC program services and issued WIC foods cost $0 to eligible participants. Florida describes WIC as a free nutrition program. There is no application fee to pay to this directory. WIC is supplemental: it does not pay for every grocery item or necessarily cover all food or formula needs. At a store, separate purchases outside your issued benefits are your responsibility.
A county health building may also offer other services with their own charges. Ask specifically for WIC when calling. This guide does not quote prices for unrelated medical visits, transportation or parking.
